Everything was fine a month or so before Christmas 2020. We were watching a movie on TV Christmas Day as a family. Occasionally she would complain of stomach pain, but at 52, we thought it was related to menopause. My wife pointed out that her feet were swollen. For the next week we soaked her feet and massaged her legs. She called the doctor after the holidays and got a blood test. The test confirmed cancerous cells. More tests later confirmed the cancer was in her lungs and liver. She was going downhill rapidly.
Each week seem to weaken her significantly. She was admitted to the hospital shortly thereafter, on about January 26. She stayed until February 12, getting her first round of chemotherapy. When she was released from the hospital we were instructed to return if her temperature went above 38 degrees. After being home for a few days she did have a temperature above 38 degrees, and so she was taken back. They tested her for COVID and I returned home. The next day her COVID test came back positive. With a compromised immune system she was not able to fight off the virus. It turned out later that there was indeed and outbreak in her previous ward. She fought as best she could, but she was too week. She passed on February 26, 2021 at 52.
Rest well my love, you are forever in our hearts.
