Continue to offer your child comfort, love and support in
the days, weeks and months following a funeral. Encourage questions, ask how he
or she is feeling, and what might bring him or her comfort. And don’t forget to
address any previous questions you may not have been able (or ready) to
answer.
Invite your child to share suggestions for honoring the
memory of your loved one in ways that are meaningful to him or her. Set aside
times on holidays or anniversaries to share beloved memories. Continue old
traditions or begin new ones.
Please reach out to funeral service professionals, and grief
and bereavement experts, to learn about tools and resources that can help you
address the unique needs of your grieving child.
